Shepherd’s Pie Recipe – Easy & Healthy
For some reason when I used to think of comfort food I would think of food that’s loaded with a lot of heavy hazardous ingredients. I would think of food that should only be eaten occasionally.
But the truth is comfort food doesn’t have to be dangerous. Comfort food can be wholesome, hearty, and filled with healthy ingredients. Like this Shepherd’s Pie recipe.
This recipe really doesn’t involve that many ingredients but to me, it’s still savory and delicious.
I used raw grass-fed dairy in this Shepherd’s Pie recipe, like in my Healthy Honey & Cinnamon Oatmeal and Healthy Blueberry & Banana Green Smoothie.

Specifically, I used raw grass-fed butter and raw grass-fed cheese. When I can’t find 100% grass-fed butter I use Kerrygold. Their cows are fed grass except during the winter.
What makes raw grass-fed butter and cheese so healthy? Butter made from cows that are fed grass is a good source of vitamins A, E, and K. It also helps stabilize blood sugar and has many other benefits.
Some benefits of raw cheese from grass-fed cows include its ideal omega-6 to omega-3 fat ratio, natural enzymes, and high source of calcium, magnesium, and vitamins A, C, D, and E.
I love the extra flavor onion powder added to the mashed potatoes and if I had garlic powder I would have definitely used it as well.
The layer of potatoes was pretty thick and you can probably see from the photos. If you want a thinner layer of potatoes you may want to use 6 to 8 potatoes instead depending on how much mashed potatoes you’d like.
Hope you enjoy!
