How I Saved $50 gift shopping online
I think finding a good deal and spending money wisely is something that even the wealthy should consider. And if you have a big family as I do then sometimes gift shopping can get out of hand. It seems every time I turn around it’s someone’s birthday. In cases like this, saving money in gift shopping can become extremely valuable.
How did I get huge savings gift shopping?
For my son’s second birthday, I bought some of his gifts from Walmart. I shopped at Walmart through Instacart’s online delivery service. The discount I received was right on time. All of the items I got for him were at a discounted price of 50% off. I got this special discount through a promo code emailed to me. The customer was required to spend at least $100.
Just in case you are not familiar, Instacart is an American-based company that provides a grocery delivery and pick-up service. But, at this time they only offer delivery and pick-up service in the United States and Canada.

Some of the items I originally ordered weren’t in stock, so I was refunded. For one of the items, I chose a replacement. I was a little disappointed about the items that weren’t available, but I was still able to get $50 off even though my total was below $100!

How to save with an Instacart membership
If you use Instacart without a membership you’ll have to pay a delivery fee in addition to other fees that may apply during checkout. Now, I was unsure what the $20 off is referring to, so I contacted Instacart’s customer service to get clarity. The customer service agent I spoke with said if someone signs up through my link they will get $20 off, but it will be divided into two orders. In other words, if you sign up through my link you will get $10 off your first order and $10 off your next order.

During the time I received this particular discount, I would check my email frequently for promotions and I would get them quite often. For the most current details about offers and promotions, I would suggest contacting Instacart directly.
How to maximize savings with online delivery
If you have an Instacart membership or use another online delivery service you might want to set your account to be notified through push notifications or email notifications when there are special offers and promotions going on. This way you won’t miss out on amazing deals and savings.
Also, if you opt-in to get informed when a promo is available then make sure you check your email frequently. I’ll admit I haven’t done this in a while. But, when I first started using online delivery services I was amazed by how often promotions were offered.
Why should you care about saving with online delivery?
If you use online delivery services, as I do, you’re no stranger to how many fees there are involved. Depending on what you order there may be a service fee, checkout bag fee, beverage container fee, or taxes. If you don’t have a membership with the delivery service then you’re usually required to pay a delivery fee as well. Let’s not forget it’s recommended to leave a tip also. These fees can really add up even with a membership.
On one hand, you have the benefit of shopping without having to leave your home and getting your items delivered to your doorstep. But, on the other hand, it could be more costly than just driving to your neighborhood store to purchase your groceries.
Being aware of current promotions can help you to cut back on some of the costs involved in using a delivery service to order your groceries.
