Healthy Honey & Cinnamon Oatmeal

healthy_honey_cinnamon_oatmeal

Honestly, I don’t make oatmeal that often. Hasn’t been a regular breakfast meal for years. One reason is that I like my oatmeal a tad bit rich and creamy. Meaning, I like it a little more on the sweet and buttery side. My oatmeal used to be filled with white or brown sugar and the stuff that looks like butter but isn’t.

Or the kind of butter that’s commonly sold it stores but wasn’t quite prepared with the quality and care our ancestors used. But, not today. You won’t find those ingredients in this Healthy Honey & Cinnamon Oatmeal.

I don’t know how you feel about it. I still like my oatmeal with an extra touch of sweetness, but with a healthy sweetener instead. In this oatmeal recipe, I use raw honey, cinnamon, and raw grass-fed butter. So there are no real worries if I want to add a bit more honey to it.  And my kids like it as well!

The only issue is a bottle of raw honey can be pretty pricey. And that puts a limit on the amount of honey I can use in any given recipe. On the other hand, that’s a plus because it helps me control my sugar intake (and my kids).

Some Great Benefits Of Raw Honey And Cinnamon

But true raw honey is actually beneficial if you’re trying to moderate sugar consumption. It helps lower the risk of having diabetes. And to add to that, there are even greater benefits to your blood sugar when you eat it together with cinnamon.

Cinnamon, like raw honey, helps to fight diabetes. It also reduces the risk of high cholesterol and high blood pressure.

The Wonders Of Raw Grass-fed Butter

How can I fail to mention the wonderful benefits of raw grass-fed butter? Grass-fed butter is high in Vitamin A, Omega – 3 fatty acids, minerals, and reduces the risk of cancer.

Where can you get raw grass-fed butter? Health food stores, farmers markets, and small family-owned farms are common places to find raw grass-fed butter or dairy. But I would highly suggest purchasing from a place where the quality can be affirmed.

I purchase it from my local health food store (Sprouts Farmers Market). And I was so excited when I realized they carried it and raw dairy in general.

My favorite brand right now is Organic Pastures. They’re usually my first pick for all dairy items. But sometimes raw grass-fed butter isn’t always available where I shop and my second best option is grass-fed butter — not raw. This butter is usually easier to find than the raw kind.

And if you want more info on where to find raw dairy then Real Milk is the recommended site to search.

The Goodness Of Oats

And of course, I can’t leave out the main ingredient — oats. They are high in manganese, magnesium, phosphorus, and many other vitamins and minerals. Oats, like cinnamon, helps to lower cholesterol and blood pressure.

The Taste …

Aside from the sweetness of the honey, I also like the creaminess the butter adds to the oats. Specifically, real butter. Raw grass-fed butter. No other butter alternative can replace the taste of the real thing. I’m talking good quality creaminess.

This Honey & Cinnamon Oatmeal Recipe is not super fancy. But it is simple, easy, healthy, and tasty. If you’re looking for a warm bowl of wholesome and comforting oats to start your morning, try these out.
