Why do these posts get the most views?

The first thing I want to mention before I go any further is that I’m not a blogging expert. I’m far from a professional in SEO. I don’t have an extreme amount of followers or page views at the time of writing this post. But, why listen to me?

Because I’m speaking from experience.

I was going through my analytics to see which page views are ranking the best on Google and getting the most traffic. I usually do this daily.

At least for the past year, the same pages on my site get the most views and traffic. I won’t screenshot these Google Analytics statistics because actually, it’s nothing to brag about. Nothing to write home about. Unless, of course, enough people are curious and ask me to show these analytics. Then I will consider.

In general, these posts don’t receive millions or even thousands of views per month, but these are the pages that receive the most views on my site consistently.

These aren’t my latest posts and quite frankly not even pages I would expect to have the most views on my site in the first place.

The reason I believe certain posts have the most views consistently.

Alright, I’ll move on the explain why I believe these particular pages get the most views on a continuous basis.

While I was checking my analytics for Google today I asked myself, “Why do these posts always get the most views?” Then it dawned on me. A light flickered in my head.

What do all these blog posts have in common?

Comments.

Yes. Comments. These are the posts on my site with comments. Now, as I mentioned already I’m not an expert. I haven’t spoken to the people over at Google who are responsible for getting their bots to crawl my site and determine which pages rank the best.

I’m going to assume the reason these specific pages get the most views is that people have left comments on them.

My belief is that because the comments I’ve allowed are from real who wrote in response to my specific topic, this may have caused a positive impact on these particular posts.

This may have helped to improve my ranking a bit in Google for those exact topics.

But, before allowing or giving people permission to leave comments on your site there are definitely some important things to remember.

Beware of spammers and spam bots that leave comments.

It’s good practice to check the comments first to make sure they’re not spam. I receive a lot of comments on my site, but sadly most of them are spam.

And as for the comments that don’t end up in the spam section, I still check to make sure those aren’t spam as well.

Another thing I don’t do is ask friends or family to leave comments. I’m not sure if that would be bad SEO practice, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it is. I know Google wants to see that the visits to your site are truly authentic and that visitors are commenting because of a genuine interest in your content.

These are my speculations and based on my own experience.

Do you agree or disagree with why I think certain posts on my site keep getting the most traffic? Leave a comment and let’s put this theory to the test!
